Practical answers about the recovery program, operation after a 230 V power interruption, charging without disconnecting from the vehicle electrical system, the MANUAL program, and daily use with an inverter.

Recovery Program

This section is for cases when the battery is deeply discharged or when there is a risk of a 230 V power interruption during the program.

Will the device continue working if 230 V power turns off and then comes back?

All programs, except the recovery program, continue working after power is restored.

The recovery program waits for one hour. If power is not restored within one hour, the program may stop and show information about it on the display.

Depending on the current stage of the recovery algorithm, the waiting time may be longer than one hour, but it is unlikely to exceed 10 hours.

ImportantWe do not recommend using the recovery program when there is a risk of a 230 V power outage.
Should the battery be charged before using the recovery program?

If the battery is discharged to “0” or below 10 V, we recommend starting with the PZ support charge program.

Set the regulator knob to the “9 o’clock” position.

When, or if, the voltage reaches 13.5 V and does not “jump”, you can switch to another program, for example the recovery program.

Charging Without Disconnecting From The Vehicle System

Can the battery be charged without disconnecting it from the vehicle electrical system?

Yes, it can. However, choose charging programs where the voltage will not exceed 15.0 V.

For example, the CAt program can be used for this scenario.

CautionIf the battery is connected to a vehicle or other electronics, do not use increased-voltage modes unless you understand the limitations of that system.

MANUAL Program

How do I set hysteresis in the MANUAL program?
NoteDo this only if you understand why this adjustment is needed.
  1. Select the MANUAL program using the keys.
  2. Press and hold the program button until MANUAL starts flashing on the lower display line.
  3. Release the program button. The upper display line will show the charge voltage threshold of the MANUAL program.
  4. Enter hysteresis adjustment with short presses of the program button. Make at least 5 short presses.
  5. Follow the sequence: press the button and release it immediately, wait about one second, press and release again. Repeat at least 5 times.
  6. After the series of presses, the lower line should show | P |, and the upper line should show 0.0.
  7. Set the required hysteresis voltage level (from 0 to 4 volts).
  8. To save the value, press and hold the program button for about 3 seconds.

How does the CAt charging algorithm work together with an inverter?

A NANO-20 running the CAt program is connected to a battery that is also connected to an inverter.

The charger has already charged the battery and switched to the support charge stage.

230 V power disappears, and the battery starts discharging into the inverter.

Flooded Starter Batteries

Which program should be used for regular charging of a flooded starter battery?

For regular, for example daily, charging you can use the CAt program with a voltage of 15.0–15.5 V.

With such intensive battery use, it is useful to run the AAt program preventively 1–2 times per month.

If the flooded starter battery is used for its normal purpose, meaning in a vehicle electrical system, the AAt program 3–4 times per year is usually enough.
